ViagraConnect manufacturer, Pfizer, estimates more than a fifth of men aged over 18 in Britain suffer from erectile dysfunction, but almost half of those over 40 have not sought medical help.
The erectile dysfunction drug will be available in 14,000 stores across Britain and via pharmacy websites.
The tablets will be available exclusively from Boots until 10 April.
Those aged 18 and over will be able to buy the tablets following a conversation with a pharmacist or after filling out an online form. Men can ask to speak to a pharmacist in a private consultation room if preferred.
The pharmacists will determine whether treatment is appropriate for the patient and give advice on erectile dysfunction, usage of the medicine and potential side effects. They will advise men to consult with their doctor no less than six months after buying Viagra so that any potential underlying conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease can be investigated.
A Boots spokesperson said that the man affected by erectile dysfunction should buy the drug themselves wherever practically possible.
Men with severe heart problems, those at high risk of heart problems, liver failure, kidney failure, strokes or those taking certain other medicines, will still need to be prescribed the drug under the supervision of a doctor.
A four-pack of the tablets will cost £19.99 and an eight-pack £34.99.
Men who buy it will be advised that they can take a 50 mg tablet an hour before having sex, but should not use more than one pill a day.
Viagra is is already available as an NHS prescription free of charge for those eligible not to pay for their prescriptions.
The pharmacist will decide how many packs will be supplied in a transaction.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) announced in November it was to steer men away from buying the tablets from. In 2016 £17m worth of unlicensed and counterfeit Viagra was seized.
Kristie Sourial, Pfizer’s medical manager, said: “It’s important to remember that erectile dysfunction is a medical condition, and that the impact often goes beyond the physical symptoms – it can lead to men feeling anxious, depressed and lacking in confidence.
“Our hope is that the availability of Viagra Connect in pharmacies will encourage men who do nothing about their erectile dysfunction to seek help, and encourage those who are inclined to seek help to do so sooner.”

A new, effective form of Viagra for men aged 40 to 70 who suffer from erectile dysfunction is now available for purchase in the UK. This new ED treatment is a ‘little blue pill’, which means it’s possible to take for up to 36 hours – meaning you don’t need to plan ahead and take it exactly as your doctor has prescribed. It is the same form as the original Viagra tablet which is only available on prescription from your GP. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, allowing more blood to flow into the penis when you get sexually excited and causing an erection.
A pack of four tablets will cost around £20 (around £40) which can then be taken as a single tablet. This new form of Viagra will only work with sexual arousal. It’s important to note that Viagra only works when you’re sexually stimulated. You’ll need to be sexually aroused to take Viagra so you may need to try and make up for it with more Sildenafil. (and which is at the same time as the Pfizer Viagra.)
Dr Fox offers sildenafil (Viagra), the generic version of Viagra, as an ED treatment for people who cannot take Sildenafil. You can also try getting insurance coverage for sildenafil (see below). If you already have a prescription for sildenafil you can buy it over the counter (from your pharmacy) as long as a one-off medicine is made for you.
Viagra is available to buy over-the-counter from pharmacies without a prescription. We have many other ways to buy Viagra without a prescription so you’ll have to check for yourself.
Update: Dr Fox does not recommend taking Viagra with alcohol so if you do find this difficult to get a prescription from your doctor you may also want to consider taking one of the many.
There is currently no alcohol-based prescription for Viagra but a one-off medicine is usually available but there are a variety of alcohol-based medicines available.
Dr Fox has a number of alcohol-based products and products which can help reduce the likelihood of Viagra and Sildenafil getting into your system. As this is a pill, you should always take it exactly as your doctor has prescribed.

You should always swallow the tablets whole as they will take up to a maximum of one and a half and and hour respectively. You can take Viagra with or without food but if you don't have a burger or chips and salsa after the sildenafil one you can take sildenafil with a glass of water.
You should always store Viagra in a cool, dry place where there is no evidence of make.
